Memoria · Monaco
Monaco’s built heritage is protected. The memory of addresses, worksites and know-how was not. Memoria archives it and makes it public.
- COGNITIVE HERITAGE
- FRANCE / MONACO / SWITZERLAND
- PUBLIC PROJECT
The project
The Principality changes fast: a district rises from the sea, a neighbourhood address changes hands, a worksite is delivered. Built heritage is documented; the memory of shops, public places and official acts much less so. Web pages are replaced, press articles close, and nobody keeps the timeline.
Memoria is a public project of AIGYROS — Cognitive Heritage. It is neither a commercial directory nor a press aggregator. It is an independent guide that builds, for each entity, a record and a timeline: every archive carries a year, a type and a cited public source.
The site is live at memoriamonaco.com. No commercial company is associated with the project, no placement is sold. The object is the territory’s memory, not an advertiser’s visibility.
The starting point
What the diagnosis revealed.
Before any technical proposal, we write down the real state — including what unsettles. This description, validated by the teams, is what makes the rest verifiable.
- 01
A memory that evaporates
Addresses change hands, beaches are rebuilt, buildings are handed over. Without a dated archive, only oral recollection remains.
- 02
Directories without history
A listing gives a name, an address, a phone number. It does not say what happened the year before, or where the information comes from.
- 03
Press that is hard to reread
Public facts exist in the Journal de Monaco, official sites and local press — scattered, sometimes unreachable after a few years.
- 04
Private mixed with public
Biographical notices often blend official acts and private life. A territorial archive has no business carrying that mix.
- 05
No citable index for machines
Assistants and search engines had no structured, sourced resource specific to the Principality that they could cite without copying the press.
- 06
The advertising model of local guides
Cookies, ad networks, paid prominence: the usual guide sells visibility. That was not the project.
Constraints
What could not be compromised.
- 01
Public sources only
Journal de Monaco, LégiMonaco, official sites, establishment pages, press cited with its link. No copied directory database.
- 02
No private personal data
Legal name, professional address, opening hours, public acts. No private individual’s name, no director cited in a private capacity.
- 03
No advertising, no tracking
No cookie, no audience tool, no third-party script, no sponsored placement, no data resale.
- 04
A source for every archive
A record is published only if at least one dated, sourced archive can be shown. A correction is dated, never silent.
- 05
Accessibility as a target
Keyboard navigation, screen readers, contrast, skip link: the site aims at the RGAA standard, without turning it into a sales claim.
- 06
Independence
No investor obtains visibility in exchange for funding. The guide is not an advertising medium.
The AIGYROS answer
What we built.
We designed Memoria as a collection, not a showcase site. The model is the entity: a record, six possible collections, a timeline of archives. Each archive paraphrases a public fact and cites its source; title and link remain with the original publisher.
The Figures collection follows the same rule as businesses: a timeline of public acts and official functions, never a private biography. The site’s Journal ties articles to the records they document, rather than producing detached news.
The site sets no cookie and calls no measurement service. A machine index (llms.txt) and a sourced corpus are exposed so assistants cite Memoria · Monaco instead of copying the press.
The project is operated by AIGYROS — Cognitive Heritage: collection, verification, publication, corrections. The Principality remains the territory; the group holds its public archive.
Conduct
Four stages, held in this order.
Stated durations are orders of conduct magnitude, never commitments: each engagement is recalibrated on its own ground.
- 01Editorial doctrine phase
Frame
Defining the collections, source rules, what does not enter the collection, and the line between public fact and private data.
- Six collections and their categories
- Source and paraphrase charter
- Exclusion of private life and advertising
- Recommended citation form
- 02Architecture phase
Model
Record and archive model, bilingual publishing, indexing, journal, and surfaces for readers and machines.
- Record, timeline, metadata
- Journal tied to entities
- Machine index and feeds
- Accessibility and no trackers
- 03Collection-building phase
Publish
Sourced gathering, verification, first records online, opening of the journal and collections.
- Gathering from public sources
- Verification before publication
- Opening of the six collections
- Dated correction channel
- 04Ongoing operation
Hold
Updating records, new archives, visible corrections, technical upkeep of the site.
- Enriching timelines
- Dated, visible corrections
- Site and index upkeep
- Editorial independence kept
What changes
Before, after — no showcase figures.
We do not publish improvement percentages: they cannot be verified from outside. What can be described, on the other hand, is the daily gesture that changes.
- Initial situationAfter the engagement
Initial situation: Oral memory, pages that replace themselves
After the engagement: Public record, year-by-year timeline
Initial situation: Directories with no source or history
After the engagement: Every archive cites a public document
Initial situation: Scattered press and official acts
After the engagement: A single collection, six universes, a tied journal
Initial situation: Biographies mixing private and public
After the engagement: Public acts only, never private life
Initial situation: Local guides funded by visibility
After the engagement: No advertising, no cookie, no tracking
Initial situation: Nothing machines could cite
After the engagement: Sourced index, explicit citation form
Deliverables
What stays in your hands.
An engagement is also judged by what it leaves behind. Every deliverable is written to be read without us.
- 01
Public site
memoriamonaco.com — bilingual guide, live, with no cookie and no ad network.
- 02
Record model
Entity, collection, timeline, mandatory source, verification date.
- 03
Six collections
Businesses, places, buildings, institutions, associations, figures — each with its rules.
- 04
Journal
Editorial feed of the territory, each article tied to the records it documents.
- 05
Machine index
llms.txt and sourced corpus, so Memoria is cited rather than the press copied.
- 06
Correction channel
Dated request, visible on the record — no silent deletion.
Excluded scope
What the engagement did not include.
A blurry scope costs more than an incomplete one. So we write it down in black and white, from the proposal stage: what is handled, and what is not.
- A commercial directory: Memoria is not a paid-prominence medium.
- Press aggregation: facts are paraphrased; the original text stays with the publisher.
- Private biographies, including for public figures.
- Any form of audience tracking or data resale.
